Transfer Students
Transferring to Illinois Tech
We gladly accept transfer students into our programs at Illinois Tech. In addition to an application, you will need to submit official transcripts from all schools you have attended and any other supplemental materials, if necessary. You will receive an email with a link to track your application status. For questions or more information, please call 833.611.3666.
- You must be in good academic standing at the last college you attended
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is required
- You may transfer up to 9 applicable credits earned prior to attending Illinois Tech, subject to rules and restrictions
- Your transcript will be evaluated for transfer credit after the application deadline
Military Affiliated Students
Military Learners at Illinois Tech
Illinois Tech proudly processes Department of Veterans Affairs benefits for students who have served the U.S. military. Active-duty U.S. military service members and veterans admitted to Illinois Tech may be eligible for GI Bill® benefits, the Yellow Ribbon Program, the Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP), the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA), and the Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP).
- Apply for VA benefits (if you have already not done so) and obtain your certificate of eligibility
- Earn admission to Illinois Tech and enroll in courses
- Send a digital copy of your certificate of eligibility via email to Christopher Lee at clee106@iit.edu
International Students
Applying as an International Student
All international students must demonstrate English language proficiency for admission. If you do not meet the English proficiency requirement, you may be admitted conditionally.
You can demonstrate English proficiency through any of the following ways:
- English Proficiency Exams:
- TOEFL iBT/Home 80 or above
- IELTS Academic 6.5 or above
- Duolingo English Test 115 or above
- Completion of an intensive English program:
- Illinois Tech IEP Level 4 or
- ELS Level 112
- Completion of 60 semester hours at U.S. institutions within the last 36 months
- Degree from a country listed and attendance at that school for two years
